Saint Lazarus medal that depicts the saint on the front and “Pray For Us” on the back. This detailed die-cast medal is made in the region of Italy that produces the finest quality medals in the world.
This Saint Lazarus is not the Lazarus who was resurrected by Christ, that is Saint Lazarus of Bethany. Instead, this Lazarus is the leper mentioned in the Gospel of Luke. In a parable, Jesus described how Lazarus lay suffering on the doorstep of a rich man, covered with suppurating sores; his sole companions were dogs who licked his sores. The wealthy man, whether through meanness or obliviousness, never showed Lazarus the slightest mercy or compassion. When Lazarus died, he went straight to Heaven and the bosom of Abraham, while the rich man, when he died, traveled to a realm of punishment instead. His feast day is June 21s. He is portrayed as a destitute beggar, walking on crutches; with dogs who lick his wounds.
Saint Lazarus is the patron of the poor, against leprosy, lepers, and the Order of St Lazarus.
